Role Summary
Head of Production (Immersive Division)
Location: Preferred in European time zone but US / Canada / LATAM also works
Reports to: Managing Director, Immersive
Works closely with: CEO / Founder, EVP of Growth & Creative, ECD, Director of Technology, Finance / CFO
The Head of Production (HOP) is the execution and operational backbone of the Immersive Division, owning the transition from qualified opportunity → scoped proposal → production → delivery.
The HOP converts creative intent into clear scope, schedule, budget, risk plans, and resourcing across real-time content, CG/VFX, interactive/software, AV systems, fabrication, and installation.
Beyond delivery, this is a builder role responsible for designing the systems, standards, and content pipelines that enable the team to scale with excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Opportunity & Proposal Leadership
Take ownership of qualified opportunities from Sales / CEO
Translate creative direction into SOW, detailed budget, master schedule, staffing model, and risk register with mitigations
Partner with ECD on the story and presentation; own execution strategy (budget, schedule, delivery approach)
Confidently represent production strategy in client pitches and Q&A
Cross-Discipline Technical Fluency
Evaluate / challenge estimates across:
Unreal / Unity real-time, CG / VFX / animation, creative tech (sensors, tracking, show control), UI / UX & interactive workflows, fabrication / scenic, AV hardware / media servers / displays / lightingUnderstand integration, QA, calibration / commissioning, deployment cycles
Maintain a vetted network of specialist vendors and integrators
Project Delivery & Leadership
Support Producers post-award; enforce scope, plan, quality, and timeline
Serve as escalation point for change orders, client dynamics, and risk issues
Maintain production forecasting, resourcing plans, and talent pipeline
Champion creative integrity and technical feasibility in balance
Operational Systems & Pipeline Development
Partner with the Managing Director to build scalable workflows for:
Estimation & scoping templates
Onboarding & kickoff checklists
Asset / content pipelines (CG ↔ real-time ↔ AV)
QA / testing / tech rehearsal procedures
Documentation, reporting, and ticketing standards
Installation & commissioning frameworks
Additional responsibilities:
Select and implement production software platforms (PM, resource planning, review / approvals, QA / test, dashboarding)
Create repeatable playbooks for immersive execution and continuous improvement
This person builds the machine, not just runs it.
Project Financial Leadership
Own budget models, burn forecasts, change orders, and weekly financial reporting cadence
Ensure MD / CFO have accurate, current, actionable visibility into project budgets, margin forecasts, utilization implications, and CO impact
Identify margin risk early and lead mitigation
Drive a culture of commercial discipline in estimating and delivery
Accountable for project financial accuracy; supports division P&L leadership
Job requirements
Your Journey
Experience
12–18+ years total professional experience
7–10+ years in senior production leadership roles within immersive, experiential, media, or integrated creative environments
Proven track record delivering large-scale, multidisciplinary immersive or interactive projects from proposal through installation
Core Capabilities
Deep expertise in production planning, budgeting, and scheduling across complex creative-tech ecosystems
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams spanning creative, technical, and operational disciplines
Strong commercial and financial acumen, including forecasting, margin management, and change order control
Experience building and scaling production systems, workflows, and pipelines
High confidence presenting production strategies to clients and executive stakeholders
Technical & Industry Fluency
Familiarity with real-time engines, CG/VFX pipelines, interactive systems, AV infrastructure, and fabrication / installation workflows
Understanding of QA, commissioning, deployment cycles, and integrated technical environments
Established network of vendors, freelancers, or integrators is a strong plus
Leadership & Soft Skills
Strategic thinker with strong operational execution skills
Calm under pressure, solution-oriented, and decisive
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
Culture carrier who balances creative ambition with technical realism
Builder mindset, someone who creates systems, not only manages outputs
