ABOUT THE VENUE & CONTEXT

The New York venue is a permanent programmable multimedia space designed for immersive, projection-mapped experiences. It hosts a wide range of high-end live events, including luxury weddings, corporate events, galas, keynotes, fashion shows, premieres, and brand activations. The venue operates within a multi-stakeholder environment, where programming, technical operations, and immersive content must align seamlessly with client expectations. The Production Manager brings structure, commercial clarity, and forward planning to the venue’s AV and multimedia offering, working closely with clients to translate event needs into tailored technical and experiential proposals, while coordinating with internal teams to ensure feasibility and successful delivery.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Production Manager is the primary client-facing and commercial lead for the venue’s AV and multimedia offering, overseeing proposal development, client coordination, and the transition to production across multiple concurrent events.

This is not a multimedia content production role. It is a venue-based AV production and client-solutions role centered around:

  • Client meetings, venue visits, and development of AV and service proposals

  • Building and presenting AV budgets and service proposals aligned with client needs.

  • Ability to plan and scheduling several events at once

  • Anticipating resource and equipment needs

  • SSOT Show documentation and pre-planning 4-6weeks in advance

  • Familiarity with show performer riders and requirements of performance artists [A-list talent, bands, DJs]

  • Balance client expectations, technical feasibility, and commercial alignment.

  • Coordinating with the on-site teams, HODs and freelancers

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Client-facing & commercial responsibilities

  • Lead client meetings and venue walkthroughs in coordination with the venue team.

  • Build, present, and refine AV and service proposals based on client needs and event objectives.

  • Articulate the venue’s technical and experiential value in a clear, compelling way.

  • Act as the main point of contact during the pre-event phase, up to handover to production teams.

Budgeting and cost control

  • Build and manage detailed AV budgets (audio, lighting, video, rigging).

  • Review vendor quotes with a critical eye to ensure relevance and coherence.

  • Define appropriate technical solutions aligned with the proposal.

  • Present and justify budget decisions to internal stakeholders

Event pipeline and forward planning

  • Strong scheduling prowess in managing and guiding departments in all facets of the show requirements including load in schedule; event build sequencing; show QC, load out

  • Manage several events simultaneously with a 6–8 week forward view.

  • Plan resources, equipment, and schedules across multiple upcoming events.

  • Maintain alignment with venue commercial and hospitality teams on client expectations, scopes, and timelines.

  • Prevent conflicts in equipment, staffing, and room usage through proactive planning.

Technical understanding

  • Read and understand audio/video/lighting gear lists and proposals.

  • Ask the right technical questions to ensure setups are necessary, feasible, and cost-aligned.

  • Challenge technical requests when they conflict with budgets, mapping needs, or operational reality.

Stakeholder and vendor management

  • Work daily with the team to ensure operational readiness.

  • Collaborate with long-term freelance HODs, while balancing trust, respect, and assertiveness.

  • Ensure all parties receive clear, timely information and documentation.

Continuous improvement and internal structure

  • Participate in building a systematic process for evaluating technical setups and quotes.

  • Contribute to decisions regarding in-house equipment investments.

  • Help evolve workflows

Job requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

College diploma or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (event production, technical production, live entertainment, audiovisual production, or related discipline).

Professional Experience (Must-Have)

  • 7+ years of experience in Line Producing or Production Management in live events, live shows, concerts, corporate events, or high-pressure production environments.

  • Proven experience in a client-facing, commercial, or sales-adjacent production role, including proposal building and client presentations.

  • Proven experience managing multiple events simultaneously under tight deadlines.

  • Strong literacy in AV systems: audio, lighting, video, rigging (ability to read gear lists, question setups, and challenge overspec).

  • Demonstrated ability to:

    Build, defend, and optimize event AV budgets

    Push back constructively on vendors and technical leads

    Coordinate diverse stakeholders (venue teams, freelance HODs, internal teams

Technical Skills

  • Experience working in premium venues or luxury event environments (fashion, high-end weddings, brand activations).

  • Exposure to immersive or multimedia events (projection mapping, complex AV setups).

  • Experience collaborating with long-term freelance technical departments (audio, lighting, video, rigging).

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Salary: $ 125k

  • Full-time, on-site role with requirements to be in Downtown Manhattan 5 days a week

  • Event-based rhythm with peak periods in Q4 requiring occasional early mornings or late finishes.

  • Limited travel; this is a venue-based operational role.
